In June 2023, Smart Education of China received the 2022 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. Ireland’s National Resource Hub was also selected as a laureate.
The theme of the 2022 edition was ‘The Use of Public Platforms to Ensure Inclusive Access to Digital Education Content’. It recognized contributions to improving access to public digital learning platforms and digital content, developing the digital competencies of teachers and students, and promoting universal connectivity in education.
