In response to the rapid emergence of powerful new generative AI tools, UNESCO held its first global meeting of education ministers on the subject on 25 May, exploring the immediate and long-term opportunities, challenges and risks that AI applications present for education systems. More than 40 ministers came together to share their policy approaches and plans for making the best use of AI tools in education. During the online discussion, UNESCO presented a roadmap for generative AI and education, including an open dialogue involving multiple stakeholders.
