On November 8th to 9th, the 60th-anniversary celebration of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), a part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), was successfully held in Paris, France. Prof. HUANG Ronghuai, the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education at Beijing Normal University and Co-Director of the Smart Learning Institute, was invited to attend the celebration and extended best wishes for the future development of IIEP. During the event, Professor Huang Ronghuai held discussions with leaders from UNESCO IIEP and UNESCO IITE (Information and Communication Technologies in Education) on the global trends and challenges of artificial intelligence in education.
Established in 1963, the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) is the only organization within the UNESCO system dedicated to education planning and management. The vision of IIEP is rooted in the understanding of education as a fundamental human right, where no child, youth, or adult should be excluded from learning opportunities that enable them to live a decent life, exercise their rights, and participate in civic life. Furthermore, IIEP places special emphasis on expanding quality education, providing equitable and relevant learning opportunities for all. In the envisioned world by IIEP, every child, youth, or adult should benefit from quality learning opportunities provided for sustainable development.
