15th to 16th April, 2024, Prof. HUANG Ronghuai, UNSECO Chair on AI in Education, Co-Dean of the Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University (SLI) was invited to visit Croatia. The visit aimed to strengthen the cooperation between SLI and Central and Institutions in Eastern European Countries in the field of smart education, and laying the groundwork for future joint projects.
On 15th April, Professor HUANG Ronghuai and the SLI delegation first visited the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences, where they engaged in discussions with Professor Jana Žiljak Gršić, Dean of the Department of Informatics and Computing, and Professor Petar Jandrić, Vice Dean. The discussions focus on the Global Design Competition for Future Education, AI in Education (AIED) research projects, and infrared spectroscopy digital printing technology, etc. An agreement was reached to collaborate on hosting the Global Competition on Design for Future Education (GCD4FU). It was revealed that the 7th GCD4FU would establish a regional division at Zagreb University of Applied Sciences, inviting experts in the field to participate in future education design research projects, thereby collectively driving innovation and development in education.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the Algebra University College, where they met with Professor Mislav Balković, the President of the college, Mr. Branko Balon, Advisor for International Affairs and Chairman of the Croatia-China Friendship Association, and Professor Petar Jandrić. Both parties engaged in discussions covering topics on student exchanges, collaboration in academic activities, and joint academic research.
On April 16th, the delegation visited the University North, where they held discussions with Professor Marin Milković, the President of the university, regarding potential areas of collaboration. Professor HUANG Ronghuai noted that the University North has achieved significant success in the field of international cooperation, attracting outstanding students from around the world and publishing high-quality academic journals. He highlighted the broad prospects for collaboration between the University North and the Smart Learning Institute in areas such as academic journal publishing and organizing international conferences, expressing anticipation for cooperation between the two parties in these fields.
During the visit, Professor HUANG Ronghuai and SLI delegation also held a meeting with Professor Vilko Žiljak, an Honorary Member of the Croatian Academy of Engineering, Honorary Professor at the University of Zagreb, and a pioneering figure in computer graphics. Professor Žiljak has made groundbreaking achievements in fields of mathematical modeling and simulation, computer graphics, and printing. During the meeting, Professor Žiljak demonstrated the application of printing technology protected by infrared, which has been widely utilized internationally. Both parties exchanged views on potential collaboration in related fields.
