Responsing to the 2022 Transforming Education Summit, recommendations from the International
Commission on the Futures of Education, and Africa’s Vision 2063,
The UNESCO Chair on AI in Education, in collaboration with the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for
Eastern Africa, initiates the establishment of the Community of Practices (CoP) on AI in Education among
China and African Countries. The CoP aims to harness the transformative potential of technology in education,
emphasizing collaboration for digital literacy development and AI in Education between China and African
countries.
I. Objectives of the CoP
Guided by the principles of equality, inclusivity, collaboration, innovation, and ethics, the overarching aim of the
CoP is to strengthen cooperation among China and African countries, fostering the development of AIED.
- Facilitating Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate the exchange of knowledge, research findings, and best
practices in the integration of AI within educational systems. - Enhancing Capacity Building: Empower educators, policymakers, and stakeholders with the skills and
understanding required to navigate the evolving AI landscape in the educational domain. - Strengthening Research Collaboration: Encourage collaborative research initiatives that explore the impact,
effectiveness, and ethical considerations of AI technologies in diverse educational settings. - Developing Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that foster responsible and equitable deployment of AI in
education, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity. - Fostering Community Engagement: Foster a vibrant and inclusive community where members actively
participate in discussions, share experiences, and contribute to the collective learning of the group.
